VERNAL--As the snow begins to settle on the holiday season, the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and Vernal City are providing residences a place to drop off their live Christmas trees, for recycling.
“It started the day after Christmas and will go until the end of January, but possibly a little bit longer,” said Alyssa McClanahan, who works for the Chamber. The chamber simply asks that all decorations be removed from the trees. The tree drop off lot is located at 100 W. 100 N. in Vernal. The service and free and open to the public. The lot will remain available for tree drop offs until the last day of January. McClanahan said, “The trees will be chipped and turned into mulch, which will be used for landscaping. They’ll also use whole trees for erosion control, improving wildlife habitat and things like that.” This month the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce is also offering residents the opportunity to recycle unused electronic devices.
“We do have another recycling opportunity, which is the electronics recycling coming up and that will come from January 6 to the end of January. We have a full list of electronic items that can be recycled available at the chamber” said McClanahan.
