Utah has put forth more safety precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, this time banning most events with more than 100 people. Most major high school sports have seen suspensions in their season and many college sports throughout the state have been postponed
“The Utah High School Activities Association is announcing the suspension of the Association’s State Debate Championships scheduled for this weekend due to ongoing prevention efforts with the COVID-19 virus,” said the Utah High School Activities Association, “the UHSAA has suspended spring activities to properly fulfill best practices regarding the protection of students and the general public.”
Other programs, such as in-person visitation in local jails, have also been canceled with the same goal in mind and will need to be worked around in other ways that have been offered.
“The Duchesne County Jail is suspending volunteer programs and in-person inmate visits effective Friday, March 13, 2020,” said the Duchesne County Jail, “The decision to suspend volunteer programs and in-person inmate visitation at the jail is a precautionary measure.”
These closures and suspensions will be active until further notice with the possibility for only the next two weeks to a month. It is advised to stay posted on where the virus has currently spread, how many cases and most importantly, to practice good hygiene.
