VERNAL--The Gobbler 5K is returning to the streets of Vernal on Thanksgiving morning for its 8th annual year.
Each year the funds generated by the race are donated to a family in the community. This year, the money will benefit the Wes and Amanda Billings family. Wes and Amanda both work as first responders in Vernal. Wes also works for the Vernal Fire Department, while Amanda works for Ashley Regional Medical Center, goes to school, and is currently battling stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.
“They give back to our community so much that it’s our time to show up for them,” said event organizer, Randi Honeycutt.
The Gobbler Thanksgiving 5k will take place on the morning of November 28, 2019 at 9:00am and will begin at Aggie Boulevard. Donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, raffle tickets and giveaway items will all be available for those who arrive early.
