VERNAL--Golfers gathered at the Dinaland Golf Course on Friday, September 6 to raise money for local veterans and to honor Freedom Day, which commemorates the attacks on September 11, 2001.

The event celebrated its 6th year under clear blue skies. Over 130 people participated in the fundraiser, creating 27 teams. Each team paid a $400 entrance fee, many of which were sponsored by a generous local business.

The funds raised will be contributed to the local America Legion Post 11, Bennion Care Center and the Gurr Foundation. Because of the amount of support given, the event organizers will also be creating a scholarship for children of veterans.
