ROOSEVELT--UBTech has announced Laci Day as their 2020 Student of the Year.

At a banquet on the evening of Monday, November 18th, UBTech President, Aaron K. Weight, along with 2019 Student of the Year, McKinlee Thacker, announced Laci Day as the 2020 ambassador for the school.

Day is in the practical nursing program at UBTech, is married, and is the mother of an 8 month old little girl.

“My home life is crazy. I have a little 9 month old daughter. I come home and I study and I spend more time with her. That’s the nice thing about UBTech is anyone can do it, anyone can be here, any age, they welcome all” said Day.

A total of 9 different students applied for the position of Student of the Year.

“It was not an easy decision. We have so many great students that applied,” said UBTech Director of Marketing, Stephanie Carter.

Day will spend the next year traveling the state, promoting technical education, UBTech, and the Uintah Basin. She takes over for McKinlee Thacker, who has completed her education at UBTech and will now move on to continue studying at Utah Valley University.

Day said of her new task, “I have big shoes to fill, but I’m excited to fill them.”
