Uintah High Graduate, Weston Ivans, has been named to receive the Vernal Youth Baseball Scholarship as selected by the Vernal Youth Baseball Board. The intent of the $500 scholarship is intended for recipients to further their post-high school experience.

Ivans is a certified emergency medical technician and works for Uintah Basin Healthcare and is currently pursuing getting his advanced EMT certification. He is the son of Anthony and Jayanne Ivans.

“Vernal Youth Baseball would like to congratulate Weston on his achievements and looks forward to hearing about future successes,” said Vernal Youth Baseball League President JR Hacking.

The scholarship was created in 2018 for students who participate in the Vernal Youth Baseball program and are graduating from a high school in the Vernal area. Initial funding for the scholarship came from Danny Mortenson, who is currently the treasurer and scholarship president of the league.
